Heads up, OP is no longer an Italian restaurant. It is now labeled as "American Cuisine" since it merged its menu with the other hotel restaurant High Velocity. There are a few Italian items, but when you go in expecting "Italian restaurant" it's a little disappointing. So that's the main reason it's a 4 star. Also, it was 8pm and they were completely out of pizza- one of their Italian items. I didn't take a star off for this because it was expected but just keep in mind this is a downtown restaurant in a JW Marriott hotel, so it is way overpriced. However, we still had a delicious meal. My friend got the southwest chicken sandwich. She doesn't eat bread so got it without the bun & guac (because she doesn't like it) & said it was amazing. I got the Rigatoni with Italian sausage & broccolini and it was perfectly cooked, great portion, & tasted delicious. Also, they had Dr Pepper which is my favorite & can be hard to find sometimes. Would I go again? Most likely not, but not because of the food or ambiance or staff. Main reason is I don't live in Indy, I hate downtown (was at the hotel for a conference) and I wouldn't want to spend that much when there are better restaurants nearby for cheaper. But if you're at the hotel & want something, it's good. It's also the menu for room service.
We stopped in before an Indians game and sat at the bar. We shared the pizza of the day and the Italian chopped salad. The pizza was pepperoni with hot honey and it was delicious! It really hit the spot for both of us. I really didn't expect to love the salad the way I did. I asked for the giardinera on the side, because I don't always love this stuff, but it was delicious. The whole salad was perfect. We had excellent service at the bar and enjoyed watching the bartender make drinks, which ultimately led me to order a spritzer called honey for the bees. It's not pictured because I drank half of it before I thought to take a picture, but I really enjoyed it. It wasn't overly sweet, more crisp and refreshing. There was a concert going on at the same time as an Indians game and who knows what else brought guests in, but the hotel was packed. OP was not that busy, surprisingly, so it was pretty quiet in comparison to the chaos right outside. Their menu is a bit expensive, but the pizza and salads are not overly expensive and definitely worth stopping in for. We'll be back!
We were staying at the JW Marriott and decided to have an easy dinner in the hotel after a long, long day of travel. It has an old world sophisticated charm with a modern twist. The restaurant was inviting and the menu looked appealing so we made reservations. We started with the OP Salad and the Caesar Salad. And although the Op salad did not look outstanding, it was shockingly fantastic. The dressing was simple, fresh and complex all in one. The Caesar salad was just as wonderful. (And apparently, I was enjoying it so much the table next to us decided to order the Caesar salads all around. ) We ordered the Margherita Pizza to share as our entree. Unfortunately, the first pizza came out rather burnt. The manager was swift to notice and without us even needing to request a new pizza from our server, she offered to have it remade. The second pizza was much better and less burnt but we were sad we didn't go with the Shrimp Pasta. The next time we will order one of the pasta dishes. I think they just need to work out a few kinks with the pizza oven and refine their techniques. They provide excellent service and they iron out the kinks for you. We will be back!
My mother and I were downtown for a concert at Everwise Amphitheater and enjoyed dinner at OP Italian. Our waitress, Brooke, was absolutely amazing! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and flavor profiles. She made ordering and trying new things a breeze! She really made the whole meal and experience! The food was made with fresh ingredients and had great taste. The wood fired pizza was a little soggy in the middle for my liking, but I would recommend it still and definitely eat it again. If you need a restaurant close by for your next concert or just want a fun experience, I highly recommend OP Italian!
Food was good. Service was good. Price was expected. Super busy w the ag convention in town but still an overall good experience.
